Question No: 2024/2927 (RE: Alleged Misconduct by TfL Security Contractors)
Question (Thomas Turrell AM): 12th September 2024
How many complaints of alleged misconduct from TfL security contractors has TfL received since 31st August 2023 and how many have led to disciplinary action?
Answer (Sadiq Khan): 30 September 2024
Questions and queries regarding various aspects of the service provided by Transport for London’s (TfL’s) security contractors were received via multiple channels and were responded to accordingly. TfL did not keep a central log and so do not hold numbers on how many, if any, related to alleged misconduct.
Whilst TfL takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and expect them to be properly investigated, the security staff are employed by TfL’s security contractors and any appropriate disciplinary action would ultimately be dealt with by them.
Question No: 2024/2929 (RE: Connecting Cameras to Damaged Power Boxes (1))
Question (Thomas Turrell AM): 12th September 2024
I have received a number of complaints from my constituents about contractors connecting cameras to damaged power boxes. Please could you advise the Assembly on whether power boxes are routinely checked before cameras are connected to them?
Answer (Sadiq Khan): 30 September 2024
Transport for London (TfL) is not aware of new cameras being installed on sites that have existing damage to the electricity supply pillars. TfL’s supplier will ensure that the electricity supply pillar is fully functional before a new camera is installed. However, in some cases electricity supply pillars have been vandalised shortly after new cameras have been installed, so it could appear that a camera may have been installed to a damaged electricity supply pillar.
