The anti-speeding Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) which were secured by your local Councillors are set to be installed by the end of this year.
Funding for the signs, which have been proven to help reduce speeding, was agreed in October 2023 following campaigning by your local Councillors. The locations for the signs have now been approved following a feasibility assessment and the new signs have been ordered. They should be installed by the end of the year.
The signs will be installed at:
- Baston Road – junction with Five Elms facing northbound traffic
- Bourne Vale – between Stanmore Avenue and Chatham Avenue, facing north-eastbound traffic
- Pickhurst Lane – near Hayes Hill Road, facing south-eastbound traffic
Councillor Thomas Turrell said:
“Speeding is a big concern for local residents and I am pleased that we have been able to secure these new signs. I look forward to seeing them installed. We will continue to work with the local Police to tackle speeding and ensure our roads are safe for local people.”
