London Assembly Member for Bexley and Bromley, Thomas Turrell, has welcomed news from Transport for London (TfL) that additional Sunday bus services will operate on the 314 and 289 bus routes. Thomas is continuing to campaign to make public transport in Outer London more reliable.
The additional services for both routes will begin on Saturday 31 August. For the 289 route (Elmers End Interchange to Purley Station) buses will operate every 15 minutes instead of every 20 minutes during Sunday daytimes and every 20 minutes instead of every 30 minutes during the early mornings on Sunday. On the 314 route (Eltham Bus Station to New Addington) buses will also operate more frequently with services every 20 minutes instead of every 30 minutes on Sunday and in the early morning on Saturday and Sunday.
As a Councillor for Hayes and Coney Hall ward, as well as London Assembly Member for Bexley and Bromley, Thomas has campaigned for improved bus services for Outer London and welcomes the additional services to these routes.
Thomas said:
“Public transport in Outer London has been lacking, so I am passionate about improving reliability and frequency for local residents. This is an important step towards this from TfL so I welcome the announcement and look forward to looking into other ways we can improve this for the rest of the borough.”
