Question No: 2024/3356
Question (Thomas Turrell): 10th October 2024
What support for London have you asked for from the new Secretary State for Environment and when do you expect to receive this?
Answer (Sadiq Khan): 15th October 2024
In the Governments first 100 days I have had genuine positive engagement with many of my colleagues in Government on support for London. This includes discussing with the new Secretary of State for the Environment ways we can work together to protect our environment, preserve nature, make sure that London’s wildlife can thrive, and clean London’s rivers and air.
I look forward to continuing this work with the Government in tackling the dual crises of air pollution and the climate emergency.

Question (Thomas Turrell): 10th October 2024
Since the formation of the new Government, can you provide the exact number of formal meetings you have had with the Government that related to London’s environment?
Answer (Sadiq Khan): 15th October 2024
It is just over three months since the new government was elected and I have already had genuine engagement and serious discussions with many of my colleagues in government. This includes discussions with the new Secretary of State for DEFRA about how we can work together to protect our environment, preserve nature, make sure that London’s wildlife can thrive, and clean our rivers and air.
I am determined for London to continue to be a world leader in tackling the dual crises of air pollution and the climate emergency, and I look forward to working with this government to do so.
