Question to the Mayor: Police Base Closures

Question (Thomas Turrell AM): 12th September 2024

Following the decision to enter a lease for the Kidbrooke Village Neighbourhood Police Base which will "enable the exit of a neighbourhood base at William Barefoot Drive" (DMPC Decision PCD 1450), are any other police bases or stations being similarly earmarked for closure?

Following the publication of a New Met for London, the Met's strategic plan from 2023-2025, the Met has undertaken a comprehensive review of estates planning assumptions alongside the ambition to ensure that our estate plans support the Met to deliver More Trust, Less Crime and High Standards. 

As part of reviewing the estate planning and considering the future strategy the Met has met with local authorities across London including Greenwich and Bexley to discuss the developing plans and potential options for the co-location of teams to support the Met commitment to the Strongest Ever Neighbourhood Policing and this engagement is on-going. The strategy will be published in due course.
