At the end of September, I attended the Rights of Way Sub-Committee which was meeting to vote on whether a bridal path should be installed over Hayes Street Farm.
The Councils full report into whether a bridal way should be installed can be viewed here. Unlike some other committees the Rights of Way Sub-Committee reaches a decision based on legal advice, as set out in the report (click here). In this instance the report concluded that the application for a new bridal path should be rejected. As one of the Ward Councillors I was consulted on this outcome which I accepted. However, the report did recommend that a new two metre wide footpath be added to the definitive map – which is the legal map of all footpaths in an area (see more here). Which is an outcome I was delighted by.
I was set to attend the meeting as an observer but due to a colleague not being able to attend, I was able to sit on the Sub-Committee as a substitute and therefore vote on the matter as well as speak in support of granting the legal recognition to the footpath.
