Hayes and Coney Hall Ward Councillors were thrilled with the news that their bid for funding improvements to the Chilham Way shopping parade has been accepted by Bromley Council.
The funding came from the latest tranche of the Local Shopping Parade Initiative, which offers up to £10,000 of funding to shopping parades across the Borough to improve the aesthetics and facilities. Cllrs. Coldspring-White, Michael and Turrell submitted a bid for Chilham Way after listening to concerns among residents that the parade had been neglected following the recent departure of key businesses. The Councillors’ bids for improvements were accepted. As a result, Chilham Way will receive a village sign, two new planters, hanging baskets, benches and replacements for the noticeboards.
Councillor Alexa Michael said:
“We are so happy to see this much-needed funding awarded to the Chilham Way shopping parade as a result of our bid. Chilham Way shopping parade desperately needs a cash injection to see it revitalised. This money will help to prevent antisocial behaviour; it will provide benefits to current businesses and encourage new ones. We hope this funding will go some way to returning some community pride to the Chilham Way shopping parade and the surrounding area.”
Hayes and Coney Hall Ward Councillors want to thank Bromley Council once again for accepting their bid. They will update residents on progress once further details are received.
